Nottingham Forest could be facing one of the most difficult decisions of their summer transfer window, with Oliver Glasner desperate to strengthen his midfield before the new campaign gets fully underway.
In this transfer report, Glasner has identified Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall as the midfielder capable of helping him reshape the centre of his team.
But Tottenham are not prepared to make Bergvall available without demanding something substantial in return.
And the player they have identified is Morgan Gibbs-White.
That demand has transformed Forest’s pursuit of Bergvall into a dramatic potential swap, leaving Glasner with a decision that could have major consequences at the City Ground.
Forest’s need for another midfielder is understandable.
After losing Elliot Anderson to Manchester City, Glasner needs another player capable of bringing energy, technical quality and creativity into the middle of the pitch. Current reporting has linked Forest with Bergvall as a potential midfield target, although Forest ultimately missed out on him in their real-world pursuit.
