BBC SPORT REPORT: Top 18 Clubs with the Best Fans in Scotland

 

In a new feature by BBC Sport, the top 18 clubs with the best fans in Scotland have been officially ranked and the results have caused quite a stir. Topping the list are three giant club, with both Glasgow giants once again proving that their passionate supporters are among the most dedicated in the world.

The study, based on factors such as matchday atmosphere, away support, fan loyalty, and cultural impact, highlights the vital role fans play in shaping Scottish football’s unique identity.

The rankings celebrate the strength of the Scottish football community, especially at a time when supporter influence is stronger than ever. Celtic’s “Green Brigade” and Rangers’ “Union Bears” have been singled out for creating some of the most electrifying atmospheres seen anywhere in Europe.

Aberdeen FC came in at third, praised for the incredible support at Pittodrie Stadium, especially during European matches. Meanwhile, Hibernian FC fans continue to impress with their unwavering loyalty and noise levels, particularly at Easter Road, earning them a solid fifth-place finish.

Kilmarnock FC fans were recognized for their dedication, often filling Rugby Park even in challenging seasons. Meanwhile, the Dundee rivalry  between Dundee FC and Dundee United FC  saw both clubs feature highly in the rankings, showcasing the deep-rooted passion in the City of Discovery.

Livingston FC and Ross County FC fans also earned notable mentions. Despite being smaller clubs compared to the Old Firm, they have created welcoming and intimidating home atmospheres, often defying expectations in the Premiership.

St Johnstone FC, following recent cup triumphs, secured a well-deserved place among the top 18, while Partick Thistle and Queen’s Park continue to punch above their weight with impressive attendances and spirited support.

The report also pointed out that Scottish clubs, while not always matching the financial muscle of larger European leagues, often surpass them in atmosphere and fan connection. This deep-rooted loyalty is something that continues to attract attention from across the continent.
