Jim Goodwin Slams Celtic and Calls for Investigation into Celtic star defender After 5-0 Defeat

Tensions boiled over at Celtic after Dundee boss Jim Goodwin unleashed a furious tirade following his side’s humiliating 5-0 defeat to Celtic, accusing star defender Cameron Carter-Vickers of misconduct and demanding an official investigation.

Celtic were ruthless from the outset, with the opening goal coming in the 30th minute when Dundee’s Ryan Strain inadvertently turned the ball into his own net. From there, it was one-way traffic. January signing Nicolas Kühn dazzled, scoring twice in quick succession – first latching onto a loose ball in the 38th minute and then coolly finishing deep into first-half stoppage time. After the break, Adam Idah added to Dundee’s misery with a clinical double of his own, netting in the 47th and 58th minutes.

Despite Celtic’s attacking masterclass, much of the post-match attention was dominated by Goodwin’s extraordinary outburst aimed squarely at Carter-Vickers.

“I’m absolutely disgusted by what I saw today,” Goodwin said. “Certain players, namely Carter-Vickers, were allowed to get away with things that have no place on a football pitch. It’s disgraceful, and it needs to be looked into properly.”

Goodwin claimed the American international was guilty of multiple fouls and questioned why officials

“turned a blind eye” throughout the game. “He was throwing his weight around, making reckless challenges, and intimidating our players,” Goodwin fumed. “How he stayed on the pitch, I’ll never understand.”

The Dundee manager insisted his criticism wasn’t “sour grapes” over the scoreline but about protecting the “integrity of the game.”

“We were well beaten today, no doubt about it,” Goodwin admitted. “Celtic were clinical and punished our mistakes. But that doesn’t excuse what went on at the other end. I want the league authorities to look back at the footage and act accordingly. There can’t be one rule for some and another for everyone else.”

Meanwhile, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers appeared unfazed by the controversy, dismissing Goodwin’s comments in his own post-match briefing.

“I thought Cameron was outstanding, as he always is,” Rodgers said. “He’s aggressive but fair, and that’s what you want in a top-class centre-half. I didn’t see anything that warrants the kind of accusations being thrown around.”

Rodgers instead focused on the positives from his team, highlighting Kühn’s impressive performance and Idah’s finishing touch.

“Nicolas has settled in brilliantly,” Rodgers said. “He’s getting sharper with every game, and his goals were superb. Adam, too, was fantastic – he’s growing in confidence and giving us that cutting edge up front.”

Carter-Vickers himself chose not to escalate the situation, calmly telling reporters he was “just focused on doing my job” and happy the team kept a clean sheet.

The Scottish FA has not yet responded to Goodwin’s call for an investigation, but any formal action would require an official complaint and substantial evidence.

For now, Celtic can celebrate a dominant display that strengthens their grip on the Premiership title race, while Dundee must regroup quickly after one of their toughest afternoons of the season.

With Goodwin clearly seething and the fallout from his remarks just beginning, Scottish football could be set for a fiery week ahead.
