GOOSEBUMPS INCOMING… TAMMY ABRAHAM’S FIRST WORDS AFTER VILLA RETURN AS MARCUS RASHFORD REACTS
Tammy Abraham has opened up on the emotions surrounding his return to Aston Villa, admitting the prospect of walking out at Villa Park once again is something he is still struggling to fully process.
The England international has completed an £18million move back to the Midlands from Turkish side Besiktas, finally sealing a reunion that has been years in the making. Villa head coach Unai Emery has long admired Abraham and previously explored the possibility of bringing him back, with the club now acting decisively to secure his signature ahead of the second half of the campaign.
Abraham is no stranger to Villa Park. During the 2018/19 season, the striker joined the club on a season-long loan and quickly became a fan favourite, scoring 25 league goals and spearheading Villa’s push back to the Premier League. His goals, energy and connection with the supporters played a pivotal role in one of the most memorable promotion campaigns in the club’s recent history.
Now back in claret and blue, Abraham is preparing for what will be his second debut for the club, with Brentford visiting B6 this weekend. Despite his experience at the top level of the game, the 26-year-old admits the reality of his return is still sinking in.
“It still doesn’t feel real,” Abraham told VillaTV. “I was speaking to my missus yesterday and we were just reminiscing about everything — the moments, the memories, the people.
Being back here, seeing familiar faces again and knowing I’ll be walking out at Villa Park, in front of those fans, is something I’m really looking forward to.”
Abraham revealed that his connection with Aston Villa was immediate during his first spell, and that bond has never truly faded.
“From the very first time I arrived, I fell in love with the club,” he said. “We had an incredible season together and an unbelievable outcome at the end of it.
That experience stayed with me. I always told myself that if I ever came back to England, Villa would be a very special place for me to return to. I spoke it into existence.”
The striker believes the club’s ambition and direction under Emery made the move feel like the right one at this stage of his career, and he is eager to contribute both on and off the pitch.
“I’ve already got so many great memories here, but now it’s about creating new ones,” Abraham added. “The club has moved forward, there’s a clear project, and I want to be a big part of what we’re building.”
Asked about the emotions he expects to feel when he steps out at Villa Park once again, Abraham admitted it will be a moment filled with pride and gratitude.
“I honestly don’t think I can put it into words,” he said. “I know it’s going to be emotional.
Even though I was only here for one season, this is a club that means a lot to me and to my family as well. The love I felt here was real, and I’m excited to experience that again.”
With his return now complete, Abraham will be hoping to pick up where he left off and help drive Aston Villa forward once more, as he prepares to write the next chapter of his story in B6.
