An Aston Villa player has reportedly come under fire after his actions during the club’s defeat to Chelsea F.C. were labelled “very unprofessional” by some within the club.

What was expected to be a defining night at Villa Park quickly turned into a difficult one for Aston Villa F.C..
With their ambitions of finishing in the top four still alive, Villa hosted Chelsea in a game that carried huge significance for the Premier League race. Instead of making a statement, the home side endured a tough evening as Chelsea cruised to an emphatic 4–1 victory a scoreline that could arguably have been even more punishing.
Unai Emery’s team struggled for long periods, losing control in key areas of the pitch and raising fresh doubts about whether the squad that impressed earlier in the season still has enough consistency to sustain a Champions League push.
Although Villa remain fourth for now, the defeat has left them in a vulnerable position with several teams closing the gap behind them.
Emery’s selection gamble fails to pay off
There was a brief moment of optimism when Bailey provided an assist early on, but Chelsea’s quality soon began to dominate the contest. By the time Sancho was introduced in the 63rd minute, Villa were already chasing the game and struggling to contain their opponents.

However, it was Sancho’s conduct after coming on that reportedly frustrated some inside the club.
Instead of immediately focusing on the game, the winger was seen jogging over to speak with Chelsea goalscorer Cole Palmer shortly after entering the pitch.
Following the final whistle after Villa had suffered a heavy defeat at home Sancho was also spotted sharing a long conversation and embrace with Chelsea captain Reece James.
Both Palmer and James have previously played alongside Sancho in England setups, but the timing of the interaction did not sit well with certain observers given the circumstances of the defeat.
Performance did little to ease concerns
Sancho’s statistical impact on the match also failed to help his case. His crossing accuracy was recorded at just 33%, he lost two duels, and offered little defensive support while Chelsea controlled possession.
Still on loan from Manchester United F.C., the winger has yet to score in the Premier League this season and after the events of Wednesday night, scrutiny over his future is only expected to intensify.
