“Kris Boyd Faces Sanctions for Scathing Post-Match Comments”
On Wednesday evening, Celtic thrashed Aberdeen 5-1 in their Premiership encounter at Pittodrie, with goals from Maik Nawrocki, Hyunjun Yang, Luke McCowan, Johnny Kenny, and substitute Adam Idah.
With the Scottish Cup final coming up on May 24, added with a three-game week fixture, Brendan Rodgers rang the changes from Celtic’s win over Hibernian on Saturday.
That’s why this performance from the champions of Scotland was even more special, because it was effectively the team’s B side.
But it was an old head, not just winning Man of the Match, but also leading the way from the right flank in James Forrest.

Everyone is eager for Forrest to score that historical goal in the league, and he came close on many occasions at Pittodrie, but that luck just wasn’t with him.
After the game, Kris Boyd wanted to give his flowers to Forrest, and how Celtic’s most decorated player of all-time does the ‘right thing in training every day’ to play at the level he does.
The former striker rightfully pointed out how the 33-year-old has performed every so well since coming back from injury, before letting rip at Aberdeen, as he told Sky Sports Football (14/05/25).
“It’s embarrassing,” said Boyd about Aberdeen. “The start that Aberdeen got off to at the start of the season. Everybody had them up here challenging. That was embarrassing. Just gave up. You have a cup final in a couple of weeks, where you are looking for players to step up and be counted.
But take nothing away from Celtic. That man (Forrest) on your screen. He just epitomises somebody who looks after themselves. Does the right thing every single day in training. I am not too sure if he is dancing right enough. He does the right thing in training every single day.
“To come in and put in the performance that he has for a period of time now, considering he was out of the team for a long period, is incredible.”
Boyd ‘wowed’ by Celtic’s squad
This Aberdeen side is pushing for third spot, and at the start of the campaign, some were suggesting Jimmy Thelin’s men would challenge Celtic for the title.
But fast forward to the present, and the Hoops’ B side have effectively taken apart a team that stands in the club’s way of securing the Treble at Hampden.
That’s why Boyd was left ‘wowed’ at the full-time whistle when talking about Rodgers’ squad.
“You look at Celtic right now,” added Boyd. “If that is the back-up team. WOW. The performance levels they have shown. The consistency levels they have shown.
“Also, not only that, it tells me that’s why they are at the level they are at, because of the ones who are behind. You are only as good as your squad. Training properly every single day. Pushing each other on. Do what we need to do. Fantastic evening for Celtic. Absolutely dismantling Aberdeen with, more or less, their B team.”
