Greg Taylor’s future at Celtic has been under the spotlight for several months.

It’s interesting how Taylor’s season ended because he was only dropped from Celtic’s XI a few months ago for the new January recruit, Jeffrey Schlupp.

But Taylor fought his way back into the starting side, including for Celtic’s title party against St Mirren on Saturday afternoon.

It looked as though the champions of Scotland were heading for a defeat, but right at the death, James Forrest scored his historic goal and the equaliser to ensure the 2024/25 Premiership campaign doesn’t end in defeat.

After the game, everyone associated with Celtic were on the pitch to celebrate.

St Mirren formed a guard of honour as Celtic were coming out of the tunnel, including Taylor holding his young daughter in his hands.

It perhaps indicates that he will leave and look to write a new chapter in his career, but after the match, Chris Sutton tried to get some clarity on the whole situation.

But Rodgers apologised to the Celtic legend by simply telling him, ‘I wish there was’.

Rodgers responded with a smile: “I am sorry, Chris. There is not. I wish there was.”

There has been nothing official yet, but another big indicator that this is Taylor’s final season at Celtic was the left-back’s Instagram post.

Holding the Premiership trophy aloft, Taylor simply wrote ‘Lived it and loved it’.

Of course, there is still one more game to go, as Celtic push for the Treble and face Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final next Saturday at Hampden.

Taylor knows what it is like to claim domestic dominance, and if this is his last dance, then what a way to bow out, because he has been an outstanding servant for Scotland’s most successful club.
