Giorgos Giakoumakis has already admitted he would love a return to Celtic one day.

This week the Greek striker took time out to reflect on his time in Paradise and Giakoumakis admitted he would ‘love’ to return to Celtic

With 26 goals in 57 appearances, Giakoumakis helped Celtic to become the Scottish champions in his first season at the club as well as picking up a League Cup winner’s medal.

However, ‘just before Celtic sold him to Atlanta United, the former Hoops striker revealed the Parkhead boardroom member with whom he had a fragile relationship towards the end of his Hoops career.

Celtic made a profit on Giakoumakis, albeit a small one, and as the Greek striker vents over how much he should have been sold for, he admits his relationship with not just Ange Postecoglou, but Michael Nicholson was also strained.

Giakoumakis told the Daily Record, “Well, if you think that Celtic should be happy with selling their striker, top scorer of the league, for £4.5m, then you tell me if it’s a good business or if there was a plan.

“If they would sell me, for example, £15m, £12m, £13m, I will tell you yes. You know what? They made a profit. I cannot tell anyone anything about them.

“It’s business but it wasn’t about that. I think the relationship between me, Michael and Ange in the end was really fragile. It was really fragile and I think at some point it just broke the glass.”

Giakoumakis clearly has a nose for goal. Being the top goalscorer for Celtic and the Eredivisie is no mean feat.
