Fulham are facing an “uphill battle” to keep winger Harry Wilson at the club this summer, amid transfer interest from the likes of Sunderland and Leeds United, according to reports.
The 28-year-old is enjoying a stellar season at Craven Cottage, and has contributed seven goals and four assists across 21 Premier League appearances thus far. As things stand, however, his contract in West London is set to expire at the end of the current campaign, and consequently, speculation has started to mount over the prospect of an exit on a free transfer.
Earlier this week, online outlet TEAMtalk, suggested that a number of top flight sides, including the likes of Sunderland, Everton, Leeds United, and Nottingham Forest are keeping close tabs on his situation, while also claiming that the player himself is weighing up his stint with Fulham.
And now, talkSPORT have delivered a further update on the emerging saga. According to the broadcaster, Sunderland, Everton, and Leeds are all indeed interested, as are Crystal Palace, and at the present moment in time, it looks as if Wilson could be destined for a departure from Fulham in the near future.
It is stated that the Cottagers are “facing an uphill battle” to tie the Wales international down to a new contract, with sources suggesting that he is more inclined to leave than stay at the time of writing. At 28, it is understood that Wilson would command a hefty signing-on fee and lucrative pay packet if he were to join a new club on a free transfer in the coming months.
How are Sunderland’s January transfer plans progressing?
So far this January transfer window, Sunderland have only signed one player, completing a deal for promising Ivorian winger Jocelin Ta Bi last week. Addressing the decision to bring in the 20-year-old, Black Cats sporting director Kristjaan Speakman said: “We’re delighted to reach an agreement for Jocelin to join Sunderland.
“A dynamic and explosive wide player who enjoys attacking duels, predominantly from the right side, he is a player with high potential, and we will integrate him patiently into our club. It has been reported that Sunderland will pay a fee of around £3.5 million for Ta Bi, who had been close to joining Celtic before the Black Cats intervened. Though he has signed from Maccabi Netanya, the Ivory Coast youngster had been on loan for the last 18 months at Hapoel Petah Tikva, which is where he came to Sunderland’s attention. Having played a key role in their promotion to the Israeli top tier last season, he has scored twice and registered two assists in the top tier this season.
