Greg Taylor states what is ‘the truth of the matter’ after being told Celtic fans are ‘missing’ him

Greg Taylor endured a trophy-laden career at Celtic.

But despite Brendan Rodgers wanting to keep Taylor on this summer, he opted against signing a new Celtic deal, and instead left on a free and joined PAOK in Greece.

To put it bluntly, Taylor divided opinion at Celtic, and that was made clear, especially when Rodgers had to come out and publicly defend the player last winter.

But now that Celtic are struggling, as was proven by the 2-0 defeat to Dundee on Sunday, the feeling towards Taylor has shifted, and that was put forward to the left-back.

Greg Taylor responds to Celtic fans ‘missing’ him amid struggles

Taylor was speaking with Darrell Currie, Michael Stewart and Alan Hutton on Premier Sports when he was told ‘how much’ Celtic fans are now missing him amid this season’s woeful performances.

Whilst the 27-year-old appreciated the love being shown, he made it clear that there were periods when ‘people probably didn’t think I was up to it.’

Darrell Currie: “One thing, when I even said tonight on social media, that you were coming on the show.

“The number of messages I have had from Celtic fans saying how much they miss you, and how much they miss you this season, actually, in the team as well. I know it’s in the past, but it must be nice to hear; it must bring back the memories as well.”

Taylor: “It does, of course, it’s nice that people miss you and people respected what you did. There were definitely periods of my career at Celtic when people probably didn’t think I was up to it. Or they wished for someone else. That is the truth of the matter.

“It’s nice to feel that way, but equally, it’s now a period that is done. I can look back on amazing times. I won so many trophies. Won so many games and had so many amazing memories with my friends and family, who enjoyed it with me.

“It’s a club that I really love, and I still watch on and create memories for themselves.”

Taylor’s Celtic career in numbers

You only realise what you are missing once it has gone, and that’s now proving to be the case with Taylor.

Unfortunately, whilst Marcelo Saracchi has made a very good start, Kieran Tierney is struggling, and he just doesn’t look like the same player.
