Leeds United: Gabriel Gudmundsson spotted speaking with fans after controversial dismissal vs Crystal Palace

Gabriel Gudmundsson was spotted speaking with the travelling Leeds United fans at full-time, after his sending off against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

The Whites drew 0-0 with Palace at Selhurst Park, as Daniel Farke’s key left-wing back was shown a second yellow card for a challenge on Ismaila Sarr.

The Leeds defender looked to have made a genuine attempt to win the ball from Sarr, but referee Thomas Bramall didn’t hesitate to give the Whites star his marching orders.

Leeds have added another Premier League point to their tally, and as seen in the full-time scenes shared on X, travelling supporters did not have any problem with Gudmundsson, who greeted them in the away end after the game.

What did Daniel Farke say about Gabriel Gudmundsson’s red card?

Gudmundsson’s red card has drawn controversy, with many suggesting it should never have been a second yellow.

Farke wasn’t best pleased either, as the German head coach will have felt that his side could have taken the three points back to LS11, had they had 11 men for the second 45.

The first half showed that the Whites were coming close to scoring the opener, and the dropped two points could come costly at the end of the season.

Speaking to the media after the game, Farke admitted that he didn’t agree with Bramall’s decision to send his star man off.

The Leeds boss also said that Palace’s Brennan Johnson committed a worse challenge in the second half, despite being booked, and was not shown a red.

Many from a Leeds perspective will rightly feel hard done by, but on another week, perhaps it will be them who get the luck.

What is Farke’s solution for Gudmundsson absence?

Gudmundsson is set to miss the Whites’ next Premier League clash, which comes against Brentford on Saturday, 21 March.

As the Swede was sent off through a double yellow card booking, Leeds may not be able to appeal the decision, even if it was the wrong call. They may get an apology from the Premier League at best.

Farke brought on Jayden Bogle at halftime following Gudmundsson’s dismissal, as the head coach is rather limited in who he can play left-wing back now.

Bogle could be used there, as could James Justin, but either way, it’s not ideal. Gudmundsson has played a key part in the Whites’ resurgence in 2026, and Farke will be hoping it doesn’t have a major effect on the game against Brentford.
