Daniel Farke future in doubt as Leeds board take drastic action after Sunderland loss

Leeds United’s hierachy have taken the drastic decision to postpone contract talks with Daniel Farke.

Farke is set to enter the final year of his Leeds contract in June, but negotiations over a new deal have been put on hold, according to the Daily Mirror

The report on 4 March claims that Elland Road chiefs are waiting to see whether he can keep the Whites in the Premier League after the 1-0 loss to Sunderland on 3 March.

It states that the German is keen to remain in LS11, and he was hoping to have held talks already over a renewal.

Why is Farke’s Leeds future in doubt again?

Farke’s future was in doubt in November, before a stunning run of form put the Peacocks in a great position to ensure survival.

That seemed to quell any talk of the sack, but it has now reemerged, with the Yorkshire side just six points above the drop zone.

The Whites have won just two of their last 13 league games, and that is why there is a delay on fresh talks over a new deal for the 49-year-old.

Farke deserves a contract extension, he has proved the doubters wrong and shown that he is capable of adapting his tactics when it is necessary, and it looks like he will keep his side in the league.

Also, it would be extremely remiss of the board not to give him a new deal when they did not back him enough in either transfer market.

Hopefully, everything runs smoothly, and the Whites stay in the top-flight and the whole sorry saga and pressure on Farke can be forgotten.

He deserves better that the constant speculation hanging over his head, he deserves time to build his team to one that can rise up the league.

If he was given proper backing in the transfer window and the security over his future that a new contract would bring, it would be a brilliant move from the 49ers Enterprises.

The future is bright for the Peacocks with Farke at the helm, and they should not jeopardise that just because of a poor run of form.

Daniel Farke’s future as Leeds United manager is hanging in the balance after the team’s 1-0 loss to Sunderland. The Leeds board has postponed contract talks with Farke, who is entering the final year of his contract in June. This drastic action comes as the team struggles, winning just two of their last 13 league games ¹.

Leeds director Peter Lowy emphasized that survival in the Premier League is the top priority, and contract discussions are on hold until then. Farke’s standing among fans has been shaky, with some criticizing his team selections and tactical decisions, especially after the Sunderland loss ² ³.

*Key Concerns:*

– _Team Performance_: Leeds’ inconsistent form, with only two wins in 11 league games since the turn of the year.
– _Contract Uncertainty_: Farke’s contract situation and the board’s hesitation to commit to a new deal.
– _Managerial Speculation_: Rumors of potential replacements, including Jose Mourinho and Michael Carrick.

Despite the uncertainty, some former Leeds players, like Simon Grayson, believe Farke deserves to keep his job, citing his promotion success and the team’s progress
