What Vaclav Cerny can expect from Celtic as ‘rhetoric’ to show Rangers star watergate is not forgotten

The wide man caused controversy after celebrating Hamza Igamane’s last-gasp goal in the last clash between the rivals

Winger Vaclav Cerny has been warned he could face stick from Celtic players after skooshing the Parkhead fans during Rangers derby triumph.

After victory at Celtic Park during the last showdown between the Glasgow giants, the ‘watergate’ saga dominated the fallout after Cerny was spotted by TV cameras squirting water at the home crowd following Hamza Igamane’s late winner.

The Celtic Park crowd were left furious with police and security intervening. Cerny is also faced an SFA and police probe over the flashpoint – but the winger branded the reaction to his wild celebration “absurd”.

Light Blues’ boss Barry Ferguson said ahead of the return of Scottish football that he wanted to see his players celebrate goals – but conceded the Czech winger got “overexcited”.

However, Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers felt differently as he slammed the forward and claimed Cerny had shown a “lack of respect” during the incident.

And former Hoops’ defender Mark Wilson reckons that anger over the soaking could spill out onto the pitch on Sunday with Callum McGregor set to lead the side out at Ibrox.

After a caller to Clyde 1 Superscoreboard brought up the flashpoint, Wilson said: “I’m sure that will feed into some of the Celtic players rhetoric on Sunday.

“You see all those little interactions, don’t you on the pitch? We have seen the camera catching some things.

I wonder if that will be up some of their sleeves just to put over to some of the players.”
