Leeds United took a huge stride away from trouble on Friday night, dispatching Nottingham Forest 3–1 at Elland Road and injecting fresh belief into their survival bid under Daniel Farke.

West Ham’s dominance at Turf Moor has all but sealed Burnley’s fate, but it also underlined how finely balanced the battle remains just above the drop zone, with Leeds and Forest locked in a tense race to pull clear.
Before kick-off on Friday, Leeds were handed a 9.8% chance of relegation. That figure has since dropped sharply. Opta now puts their odds at just 6.36%, a significant swing brought about by beating a direct rival.
Projections suggest Farke’s side are on course for a 16th-place finish with 44 points an impressive return for a newly promoted outfit navigating the Premier League’s relentless demands.
Credit is due across the squad for rising to the challenge during a congested run of fixtures, but the man in the dugout deserves special recognition. Farke has engineered a remarkable turnaround despite limited backing.
Leeds ranked sixth-lowest in Premier League spending last summer, investing £98 million, and January brought only one senior addition — Facundo Buonanotte on loan from Chelsea. Yet, through smart organisation and tactical clarity, Farke has made his side fiercely competitive.
The switch to a 3-5-2 has paid dividends, Elland Road has become a genuine stronghold, and confidence has returned at exactly the right moment.
There were doubts back in November. Now, with Leeds pulling away from danger and momentum firmly on their side, it feels increasingly clear: Daniel Farke is steering the Whites in the right direction and Premier League safety is firmly within reach.
