Brendan Rodgers Lines Up Four More Celtic Signings After Osmand and Inamura Deal
Celtic’s summer transfer window is off to a flying start and if early business is any indication, Brendan Rodgers is far from finished.
After reclaiming the Scottish Premiership title and with the Champions League qualifiers fast approaching, the pressure is on to strengthen key areas of the squad. The arrivals of Callum Osmand and Hayato Inamura have laid down an early marker, but the recruitment drive at Parkhead is only just beginning.
The first new face through the door was 19-year-old Callum Osmand, who completed a permanent move from Premier League side Fulham earlier this week. The young striker signed a four-year deal and is seen as one for both the present and the future. Celtic moved quickly to secure the highly rated teenager, fending off late interest from English Championship sides to bring him north of the border.
Soon to join him is Hayato Inamura, with a deal for the Japanese defender close to completion. The 22-year-old is set to become Celtic’s next summer signing after both his club Albirex Niigata and the player himself confirmed that a move to Europe is imminent. Inamura brings versatility and athleticism to the backline and is expected to slot into Rodgers’ high-pressing, ball-playing system with ease.
Despite these early additions, Rodgers is targeting up to four more signings before the window closes, with emphasis placed on attacking reinforcements. The departure of Kyogo Furuhashi to French side Stade Rennes in January left a significant gap up front. While Daizen Maeda performed admirably in a central role and Adam Idah, signed permanently for £9 million after a successful loan spell, adds depth, Celtic are keen to bring in another forward to lead the line.
One name firmly back on the radar is David Strelec, the Slovakian striker who bagged 25 goals last season and helped fire his club to the league title. Celtic saw a £7.5m bid rejected in January, with the Slovak champions demanding £9m for their star man. Strelec has since openly expressed his willingness to join the Scottish giants, and sources suggest Rodgers is seriously considering reigniting that pursuit.
In addition to a striker, Celtic are believed to be looking at a central midfielder, a left-sided winger, and potentially another centre-back as part of Rodgers’ wider plan to add quality and competition across the pitch. The focus is not only on bolstering the squad for domestic success but also on building a team capable of making a dent in Europe’s elite competition.
With early signings already completed and more in the pipeline, it’s clear that the club’s transfer policy this summer is deliberate, aggressive, and strategic. The message is simple: Celtic are aiming not just to retain their title, but to elevate their standing on the European stage.
