The Midlands side appointed Emery in 2022 after deciding to part company with Steven Gerrard, a move that has since proven inspired. The experienced Spaniard arrived at Villa Park with an impressive CV, having managed clubs such as Almería, Valencia, Spartak Moscow, Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Villarreal.
Since taking charge, Emery has transformed Aston Villa’s fortunes and quickly established himself as a hugely respected figure. Still, given the progress Villa have made under his leadership, interest from Europe’s biggest clubs feels unavoidable.

Unsurprisingly, Villa’s hierarchy will be desperate to keep Emery at the club for the long term. Losing him would be a major setback, though resisting a call from the Santiago Bernabéu could prove difficult if Real Madrid decide to make their move.
Speaking after signing his most recent contract extension, Emery expressed his commitment to the project at Villa Park. He highlighted the strong working relationship with owners Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, the shared vision within the football structure alongside Monchi and Damian Vidagany, and the bond he feels with the supporters. Emery described the club as feeling like “home” and spoke of continuing the journey with “no limits to our dreams.”
Chairman Nassef Sawiris echoed that sentiment, praising Emery as the cornerstone of Villa’s long-term plans. He described the club as “building something special” under the Spaniard’s leadership and expressed excitement about the future as Aston Villa approach their historic 150th anniversary with Emery still in charge.
