JUST IN: MAN CITY FC ISSUES OFFICIAL STATEMENT ON JACK GREALISH AFTER EVERTON DEAL AS FUTURE DECISION EMERGES

Manchester City have reportedly addressed the growing speculation surrounding Jack Grealish’s future after his loan spell with Everton, with the Premier League champions making their position clear on the England international’s situation ahead of the new season.

The winger’s future has attracted significant attention following a difficult period at the Etihad Stadium, where competition for places increased under Pep Guardiola. After arriving from Aston Villa in a British-record transfer deal in 2021, Grealish played an important role in City’s historic successes, including their Premier League title triumphs and UEFA Champions League victory.

However, his role gradually changed as the squad evolved, with younger attacking options and tactical adjustments limiting his regular involvement. The situation eventually led to a season-long loan move to Everton during the 2025–26 campaign, where Grealish was given the opportunity to rediscover his confidence and regular playing time.

During his spell at Goodison Park, Grealish made 20 appearances and contributed two goals, showing flashes of the creativity and attacking ability that made him one of England’s most exciting players during his Aston Villa years.

The 30-year-old’s career has seen several major stages. He broke through at Aston Villa, making 185 appearances and scoring 29 goals between 2013 and 2021, while also spending time on loan at Notts County, where he featured 37 times and scored five goals.

His £100 million move to Manchester City in 2021 was seen as a major statement of intent, and although he faced criticism at times, he played a key role in Guardiola’s squad during one of the most successful eras in the club’s history.

With Everton keen to continue working with the player after his loan spell, supporters from both clubs have been waiting for clarity regarding whether a permanent transfer could happen or if Grealish would return to Manchester to fight for his place.

Reports surrounding the situation have created debate among fans, with many questioning whether City still see the former Villa captain as part of their long-term plans or whether the club would consider allowing him to leave permanently.

Amid the speculation, Manchester City released their position regarding Grealish’s situation, insisting that discussions over the player’s future would be handled internally and that no decision would be rushed.

Manchester City official statement:

“Manchester City can confirm that Jack Grealish remains a Manchester City player following the conclusion of his loan period. The club continues to hold Jack in the highest regard and appreciates his contribution to our success over recent seasons. Any decisions regarding his future will be made in the best interests of the player and the football club. We maintain open discussions with all parties involved and will provide further updates when appropriate.”

The statement has increased speculation over whether Grealish could return to the Etihad Stadium or whether Everton could make a permanent move for the winger.

Everton supporters have been vocal about their desire to see Grealish remain at the club, believing his experience and creativity can play a major role in their ambitions. Some fans feel the player showed enough during his loan spell to justify a permanent transfer.

Manchester City supporters, meanwhile, remain divided. While some believe Grealish deserves another opportunity under Guardiola, others feel the club must continue rebuilding and refreshing the squad.

Fans reacted on social media:

@ToffeeBlue1878: “Grealish brought something different to Everton. We need players with his quality and experience. Make it permanent.”

@CityzensVoice: “Jack gave us unforgettable moments. If he stays, he deserves full support. If he leaves, he leaves as a champion.”

@PremierLeagueTalk: “The biggest question is whether Guardiola still sees a role for him at City. This decision could surprise many.”

As the transfer window continues, attention will now turn to whether Everton can convince Manchester City to negotiate a permanent deal or whether Grealish will return to the Etihad and compete for his place once again.

For now, Manchester City’s statement has confirmed that no final decision has been made, leaving the future of one of English football’s most recognisable stars still open.
