The match was a fascinating tactical battle between Jakirović and Emery, with both managers attempting to find a way through a highly organised defensive structure. That balance is perhaps what makes Hull’s start so impressive.
The Tigers are not relying on luck alone. They have built a system, trusted it and executed it consistently. Three straight clean sheets suggest that Jakirović’s defensive philosophy is already producing results.
For Emery, the challenge is now obvious. Villa need to turn possession and chances into goals before frustration begins to grow. For Jakirović, however, the objective is much simpler: keep Hull organised, keep believing and continue collecting points.
After another impressive defensive display, the Hull manager has every reason to be pleased. The 0-0 scoreline may look modest on paper, but for Hull City, it represents another major statement that they are ready to compete at Premier League level.
